1. God Is Love

  • Point: God's nature is love, and everything He does flows from that love.

  • Scripture:

    • 1 John 4:8 – “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

    • 1 John 4:16 – “God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”

2. Misunderstanding Wrath

  • Point: Many believe God only loves the obedient and punishes the disobedient, which leads to fear and uncertainty.

  • Scripture:

    • Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

    • Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

3. God Initiates Salvation Despite Sin

  • Point: Salvation begins with God's love, not human obedience.

  • Scripture:

    • John 6:44 – “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them.”

    • Ephesians 2:4–5 – “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions.”

4. Wrath as Love

  • Point: God's wrath is a form of love meant to remove obstacles to spiritual growth.

  • Scripture:

    • Hebrews 12:6 – “The Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”

    • Revelation 3:19 – “Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline.”

5. Chastisement vs. Punishment

  • Point: God chastises His children for their good, not to punish out of anger.

  • Scripture:

    • Hebrews 12:10–11 – “God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness… it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”

6. Judgment on Sin

  • Point: God's judgment on sin was fulfilled in Christ.

  • Scripture:

    • Romans 8:3 – “God condemned sin in the flesh by sending his own Son…”

    • 2 Corinthians 5:21 – “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us…”

7. Human Choice and Wrath

  • Point: God's wrath is the result of people rejecting His love, not His hatred of them.

  • Scripture:

    • John 3:19 – “Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light…”

    • Romans 1:24 – “Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts…”
