Prefer to listen to the story
O - Observe the False Lens
Day 4
Purpose
Today we gently explore the ways we may have learned to see apart from the reality Jesus is revealing.
Every Kingdom Lens exposes a competing lens.
Every truth reveals a false story we may have been living from.
The goal today is not self-criticism.
The goal is awareness.
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not inviting us into shame.
They are inviting us into freedom.
Your Reading
Read this week's passage again.
Read it slowly.
Read it with curiosity.
Ask yourself:
What way of seeing might Jesus be challenging here?
Observe the False Lens
A false lens is not who you are.
It is simply a way of seeing that may have developed through fear, hurt, culture, assumptions, religion, disappointment, or self-protection.
For example:
Dependence may expose self-sufficiency.
Mercy may expose judgment.
Trust may expose control.
Belovedness may expose performance.
Peace may expose striving.
As you read the passage, ask:
What way of seeing is Jesus confronting?
What false story might people have believed?
What false story might I have believed?
Reflect
Take a few moments to consider:
When have I viewed life through this lens?
What have I been trying to protect?
What have I been afraid of?
How has this lens shaped the way I see God, myself, or others?
Remember:
You are not investigating yourself to find faults.
You are bringing your vision into the light.
A Gentle Reminder
The false lens is not your identity.
You are not your fear.
You are not your shame.
You are not your insecurity.
You are not your striving.
You are His beloved.
Today we are simply noticing the lenses that may have obscured what has always been true.
Journalling Opportunity
You may wish to complete one or more of these sentences:
Perhaps I have been seeing through...
The story I may have believed is...
What I am beginning to question is...
The freedom I long for is...
Allow yourself to write honestly.
This is between you and God.
Sit Quietly
Spend a few moments sitting with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
No fixing.
No striving.
Simply bring what you have noticed into Their presence.
Ask:
What do You want me to see more clearly?
Remain open.
Remain curious.
Remain loved.
Closing Prayer
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
Thank You for Your gentleness.
Help me recognise the lenses that keep me from seeing clearly.
Give me courage to release what is false.
Lead me into what is true.
Teach me to trust Your love as I learn to see.
Thank You that I am Your beloved.
Amen.
Remember, you can use your BEloved Heart Check at any time if you'd like a quick return to the presence of the Trinity throughout the day.
